Málaga, Spain — DHV Technology and the Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech, 九州工業大学) are pleased to mark the success of their first direct collaboration, following the launch of VERTECS, a 6U CubeSat developed by Kyutech in partnership with several institutes and companies (+info).
VERTECS was launched aboard H3 Launch Vehicle (Flight No. 6) from Tanegashima Space Center on 12 June 2026, alongside several other small satellites. The mission was selected under the first call of JAXA-Small Satellite Rush Program (JAXA-SMASH), an initiative that encourages universities, private companies and JAXA to collaborate on small satellite missions using commercial small launch opportunities.
DHV Technology supplied the satellite’s deployable solar arrays, which have performed in orbit as designed since launch, deploying successfully and generating power, with the satellite’s power budget confirmed positive. This outcome is the result of close technical collaboration between the DHV Technology and Kyutech teams throughout the design, integration and testing phases of the program, the first time the two organizations have worked together directly. VERTECS is also the second mission including Kyutech to fly DHV Technology power solutions, following AOBA-VELOX IV, launched in 2019 through a collaboration between Kyutech and Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore), for which DHV Technology supplied the solar arrays to NTU.

VERTECS 6U CubeSat with DHV Technology’s solar arrays
VERTECS aims to reveal the star formation history of the universe by observing the visible Extragalactic Background Light (EBL), building on a bus system that draws on Kyutech’s heritage of CubeSat development, combined with high precision attitude control and a deployable solar array paddle tailored to the mission’s specific power requirements.
This mission also underscores DHV Technology’s ongoing commitment to supporting academic and research-driven space programs worldwide. With VERTECS now in orbit, DHV Technology’s power solutions have flown on 518 satellites to date, a milestone that reflects the company’s sustained growth and its long-standing collaboration with universities and research institutions across the global space sector.
“This mission reflects the strength of the collaboration between DHV Technology and the Kyutech and VERTECS team throughout the program,” said Vicente Díaz, Managing Director and Co-Founder of DHV Technology. “Seeing our solar arrays performing in orbit, from deployment through to power generation, is the result of close technical alignment with Kyutech from the early stages of the project. We are grateful for their trust and look forward to building on this partnership in future missions.”
